OKX or MEXC

A dense book and a Web3 wallet against a zero maker fee and coins before everyone else. A look at which matters more in your case.

Compared by the numbers

Collected straight from the exchanges. Volume is deliberately left out: venues count it differently, and on some the top of the list is tokenised equities. The last row is our advertisement scanner’s coverage, not the venue’s full currency list, which is wider.

Two different bets

OKX holds second place on the market for spot book depth while offering a full instrument set: dated futures, options, a Web3 wallet. MEXC wins on two things OKX does not have: early listing and a zero maker fee.

The fee decides more than it seems

On MEXC a limit order that sits in the book and waits to fill costs nothing. For strategies with many trades that outweighs almost everything else.

Triangular arbitrage shows it best: three trades at the usual 0.1% cost 0.3%, more than most routes return. At a zero maker fee those same three trades cost nothing. Working triangles today are found almost only on MEXC.

The OKX base maker fee is below the market average and falls further with OKB held on the balance.

Depth decides whether your order fills

Here OKX is clearly ahead: second place on the market for major pairs. The practical rule is simple — on the wide MEXC listing always read the price together with volume and book depth.

The OKX Web3 wallet

Inside the OKX app lives a non-custodial wallet with a DEX aggregator: buy a coin on spot, move it to your wallet, swap it on a decentralised exchange — without leaving the interface. For work across centralised and decentralised venues that shortens the route considerably.

A separate setup for Europe

Worth knowing in advance: for European Economic Area users OKX operates through a separate legal entity on a separate domain. Accounts and API keys do not carry across, so set everything up there from the start.

Who each one suits

OKX — for core trading, large sums, options and DEX work.

MEXC — for limit-order strategies where the fee decides, and for new listings in their first hours.

What the numbers say

MEXC asks less to move USDT — 0.0001 over AVALANCHE; OKX comes to 0.0029 ARBITRUM. The same number of USDT chains on both — 16. On perpetual contracts MEXC is ahead — 1,098 to 517. MEXC feeds the scanner P2P in 83 currencies; OKX in 16. MEXC gives 3.1× the choice on spot: 1,439 USDT pairs against 467.

Frequently asked

Where is trading cheaper?
MEXC, if you work with limit orders: the maker fee there is zero. Buying at market, the difference is small.
Where will a large order fill more reliably?
OKX: the book is noticeably deeper. On MEXC check volume and depth before a large trade.
What is the separate OKX domain for Europe?
For European Economic Area users a separate legal entity operates on its own domain. Accounts and API keys do not carry between the two.
Which has cheaper withdrawals?
Both have a free network: X Layer on OKX and Plasma on MEXC. For the rest compare the live figures at the top of this page.
Can I use both?
That is the usual setup: OKX as the main venue, MEXC for limit strategies and fresh listings.
MEXC or OKX — which should you pick?
It is the same choice whichever way round you write it. The comparison above is built on what can be measured: fees, pair counts, withdrawal chains and funding routes. Look less at which venue is "better" in general and more at which of those matters to you.
