In short: the difference
Kraken is a venue that works under supervision. On the market since 2011, jurisdiction: San Francisco, USA.
XT.com is a venue with bots and a Web3 side. On the market since 2018, jurisdiction: Seychelles, its own XT token.
What Kraken gives you
The rival’s service list is wide, yet Kraken wins on other things: The oldest venue we cover, running since 2011 under US regulation. Its distinction is real money: around seven hundred dollar pairs and five hundred and forty-six euro pairs, more than anyone here. There is spot, perpetual futures with hourly funding, staking and institutional services. Kraken is how we compute the live dollar rate in our stablecoin section.
Strong sides: 546 euro pairs and around seven hundred dollar ones, age and regulation, hourly funding.
What XT.com gives you
Against a regulated venue, XT.com wins on other things: A broad-coverage venue: around a thousand spot pairs, nine hundred and fifty of them against USDT, and close to eight hundred perpetual contracts, each with its own funding rate. There is P2P, savings under Earn, copy trading, trading bots and new-coin launches. The withdrawal network list is among the widest in this comparison — over two hundred chains including its own XT Smart Chain — and each one publishes its fee, minimum and contract address openly.
Strong sides: about a thousand pairs and 800 contracts, 200+ withdrawal networks with open fees and contract addresses, early listings.
What decides it
- Age. Kraken has run since 2011, XT.com since 2018 — a gap of 7 years. It guarantees nothing on its own, but the older venue has been through more market cycles.
- Jurisdiction. Kraken sits in San Francisco, USA, XT.com in Seychelles. It shapes both the checks you pass and what the venue has to disclose.
- Native token. XT on XT.com cuts fees and opens launches; Kraken has no such lever.
- Strengths side by side. Kraken: 546 euro pairs and around seven hundred dollar ones, age and regulation, hourly funding; XT.com: about a thousand pairs and 800 contracts, 200+ withdrawal networks with open fees and contract addresses, early listings.
- Which job. Kraken is for settling in real dollars and euro rather than stablecoins, while XT.com is as an early-listing venue and an extra leg in cross-exchange routes.
- Worth remembering. Kraken: entry-level fees run higher than neighbours — it pays off at larger volumes. XT.com: books on niche pairs are thinner than at the first-tier venues — check depth before sizing up.

What people ask most
Kraken: Why does Kraken have no exchange token? It operates under US regulation, and a token promising discounts and returns is something a regulator may deem a security. Discounts here come from volume, not from holding a token.
Kraken: Does Kraken have P2P? No. Fiat comes in and out by bank transfer; there is no merchant-ad marketplace.
Kraken: Why does Kraken funding look different? The exchange publishes the rate in dollars per contract per hour rather than as a fraction of price, and it accrues hourly rather than every eight hours.
XT.com: What does the XT token do? It discounts trading fees and takes part in staking and platform events. It also serves as gas on the exchange’s own network, XT Smart Chain.
XT.com: Why is XT’s P2P missing from your ads scanner? The venue does run a P2P board, but there is no open interface to it: the endpoint only accepts signed requests from their own client. We will not read it around that, so the P2P row shows a dash for XT — that is about our scanner’s coverage, not about the venue lacking the section.
XT.com: What is XT’s funding interval? Most often eight hours, and the exchange states it per contract along with the time of the next accrual. Our funding section annualises from the real interval rather than an assumption.
Both at once
Keeping both costs less than it seems: signing up is free, and a choice of two quotes usually beats one. Deposits and withdrawals go through the regulated venue, trading and yield through the ecosystem. A stablecoin travels between them on a cheap network.
Live numbers
Everything in the table above is recomputed together with the rest of the site — pairs, contracts, P2P, networks and the withdrawal fee. Kraken and XT.com can be compared on facts rather than promises.
What the numbers say
The spot lists differ by 21.4× — 941 USDT pairs on XT.com, 44 on the other side. XT.com is the one of the two with a published USDT withdrawal: 0.0200 on POLYGON. The longer contract list belongs to XT.com — 795 perpetuals, against 209.
