In short
Both stand out in this review for real registration: Kraken under US regulation since 2011, WhiteBIT in Lithuania since 2018. And both offer what almost nobody else does — direct pairs against ordinary money. The money is just different.
Kraken means dollars. Around seven hundred dollar pairs against fewer than fifty in USDT. It is also what we use to measure the live dollar rate in our stablecoin section.
WhiteBIT means euro and hryvnia. Ninety-two euro pairs, sixteen hryvnia pairs, three hundred and twenty-eight in USDT.
What Kraken gives you
Real dollars — bank money on the account, with no stablecoin in the middle.
Bank transfers — deposit and withdraw dollars and euro directly.
Kraken Futures — a separate platform with perpetual and dated contracts, two hundred and eighty-two perpetuals. Funding settles hourly, more often than on most venues.
Staking — one of the most developed on the market, with transparent terms.
Kraken Pro — a professional terminal.
OTC desk — large trades away from the book.
US and European licences, public proof-of-reserves reporting, fourteen unbroken years.
What WhiteBIT gives you
Euro and hryvnia pairs — ninety-two and sixteen, plus eighty-eight against bitcoin.
Spot — around eight hundred markets.
Futures — three hundred and ninety-six perpetual contracts, with the funding interval arriving alongside the rate and differing by contract.
Staking and Earn — with higher rates for WBT holders.
Lending — earn by lending out your coins.
WhiteBIT USD Card — pay with crypto anywhere Visa is accepted, with up to 10% cashback in bitcoin.
Codes — instant, free transfers to another user with a single code.
Open withdrawal fees — for all four hundred plus coins, verifiable before you register.
Fees: what you pay for
At entry level Kraken charges 0.40% to makers and 0.80% to takers; WhiteBIT charges 0.10% to both. The gap honestly reflects two models: Kraken maintains banking infrastructure, licences and reporting.
The practical conclusion is simple. For a long-term position the fee is paid once on entry, and Kraken reliability is worth it. For frequent trading WhiteBIT is cheaper, and its rate falls further with volume and with WBT.
Transparency on transfers
WhiteBIT publishes its network list and withdrawal fees openly — USDT costs 1 almost everywhere, 0.4 on Ethereum and 0.1 on Plasma. That is why the venue appears in our transfers section.
Kraken publishes these only inside the account, so it is absent from that section. For anyone costing a route in advance the difference matters: on one venue the numbers are visible before you sign up.
Fiat
On Kraken money moves through a bank — familiar for anyone with a European or US account. WhiteBIT offers both direct hryvnia and euro pairs and its own P2P (though there is no programmatic access to it, so it does not reach our rates).
What to choose
Kraken — if you want real dollars, a bank channel and regulatory oversight, with a long horizon.
WhiteBIT — if you count in euro or hryvnia, trade often and want to see every cost in advance.
What the numbers say
We can price the USDT withdrawal on WhiteBIT alone — 0.50 over SOL. On perpetual contracts WhiteBIT is ahead — 395 to 209. Spot breadth favours WhiteBIT — 326 USDT pairs to 44, 7.4× more.
