In short: the difference
First in the pair, Kraken, is a venue with direct fiat. On the market since 2011, jurisdiction: San Francisco, USA.
Second in the pair, xRocket, is an ecosystem with its own set of services. On the market since 2021, jurisdiction: Telegram, its own XROCK token.
What Kraken gives you
The rival’s service list is wide, yet Kraken wins on other things: The oldest venue we cover, running since 2011 under US regulation. Its distinction is real money: around seven hundred dollar pairs and five hundred and forty-six euro pairs, more than anyone here. There is spot, perpetual futures with hourly funding, staking and institutional services. Kraken is how we compute the live dollar rate in our stablecoin section.
Strong sides: 546 euro pairs and around seven hundred dollar ones, age and regulation, hourly funding.
What xRocket gives you
Against a regulated venue, xRocket wins on other things: A venue that lives inside Telegram: trading, the wallet and the ad board sit in one app, with no separate site and nothing to install. P2P is the main thing here — over a thousand buy ads and close to two hundred sell ads, about three hundred of them in roubles and sixty in hryvnia. Spot is modest: 54 pairs, twenty of them against USDT, the rest quoted in GRAM, a token of the TON ecosystem.
Strong sides: a large P2P board in roubles and hryvnia, payment through SBP and bank cards, a trade record on every seller, and TON coins the big venues do not list.
What decides it
- Age. Kraken has run since 2011, xRocket since 2021 — a gap of 10 years. It guarantees nothing on its own, but the older venue has been through more market cycles.
- Jurisdiction. Kraken sits in San Francisco, USA, xRocket in Telegram. It shapes both the checks you pass and what the venue has to disclose.
- Native token. XROCK on xRocket cuts fees and opens launches; Kraken has no such lever.
- Strengths side by side. Kraken: 546 euro pairs and around seven hundred dollar ones, age and regulation, hourly funding; xRocket: a large P2P board in roubles and hryvnia, payment through SBP and bank cards, a trade record on every seller, and TON coins the big venues do not list.
- Which job. Kraken is for settling in real dollars and euro rather than stablecoins, while xRocket is first of all as a P2P board for roubles and hryvnia.
- Worth remembering. Kraken: entry-level fees run higher than neighbours — it pays off at larger volumes. xRocket: no futures and no funding rate at all, and a thin spot book — the gap between buying and selling BTC runs to about half a per cent.
Which one fits you
Kraken — for settling in real dollars and euro rather than stablecoins.
xRocket — first of all as a P2P board for roubles and hryvnia.
What people ask most
Kraken: Why does Kraken show so few pairs in your spot arbitrage? Because we take only USDT pairs, and Kraken has fewer than fifty: nearly everything is quoted in real dollars. Mixing USD pairs with other venues’ USDT pairs would present USDT’s deviation as arbitrage.
Kraken: Can a withdrawal be cancelled? While it is "Initiated", yes; while "Pending", sometimes. Once the transaction is broadcast to the blockchain it cannot be cancelled. That is true everywhere, but Kraken states the states explicitly.
Kraken: Why does Kraken funding look different? The exchange publishes the rate in dollars per contract per hour rather than as a fraction of price, and it accrues hourly rather than every eight hours.
xRocket: Does xRocket offer futures? No. The venue has no perpetual contracts, so it does not appear in the funding section.
xRocket: Do I need to install an app to trade on xRocket? No. The venue works inside Telegram: the wallet, trading and the ad board all open in the messenger. There is no separate site with an account area.
xRocket: Does it work with hryvnia? Yes, around sixty hryvnia ads, with Privatbank, Raiffeisen, Ukrsibbank and A-Bank among the payment methods.
Both at once
Keeping both costs less than it seems: signing up is free, and a choice of two quotes usually beats one. Deposits and withdrawals go through the regulated venue, trading and yield through the ecosystem. A stablecoin travels between them on a cheap network.
Live numbers
Everything in the table above is recomputed together with the rest of the site — pairs, contracts, P2P, networks and the withdrawal fee. Kraken and xRocket can be compared on facts rather than promises.
What the numbers say
Spot is wider on Kraken: 44 USDT pairs against 20, a gap of 2.2×. P2P advertisements reach us from xRocket alone: 89 currencies. Neither Kraken nor xRocket publishes the USDT withdrawal fee in its open reference, which is why the row shows a dash rather than an invented number. Both quote it in the wallet, at the moment of withdrawal.
