Kraken vs HIBT

Feature set on HIBT against clean settlement on Kraken. The first is for trading, the second for money.

Compared by the numbers

These figures come from the venues themselves. Volume is missing on purpose: every exchange counts it its own way, and on a few the top of the book is tokenised equities. The bottom row counts the P2P currencies our scanner reaches, not everything the venue lists.

In short: the difference

First in the pair, Kraken, is a regulated venue. On the market since 2011, jurisdiction: San Francisco, USA.

Second in the pair, HIBT, is an exchange that covers several jobs at once. .

What Kraken gives you

Compared with an ecosystem, Kraken leans on its own strengths: The oldest venue we cover, running since 2011 under US regulation. Its distinction is real money: around seven hundred dollar pairs and five hundred and forty-six euro pairs, more than anyone here. There is spot, perpetual futures with hourly funding, staking and institutional services. Kraken is how we compute the live dollar rate in our stablecoin section.

Strong sides: 546 euro pairs and around seven hundred dollar ones, age and regulation, hourly funding.

What HIBT gives you

The regulated venue wins on money, HIBT on everything else: A spot venue with nearly five hundred USDT pairs and meaningful turnover on the major coins. The book is served one pair per request, so we keep the top hundred and fifty by turnover under watch and walk them with a dedicated collector — that is where nearly all the volume sits. Best quotes arrive with their size, so the execution ceiling is computable here too.

Strong sides: sizes at the best quote are open, nearly 500 USDT pairs, a relaxed request pace with no hard limits.

What decides it

  • Strengths side by side. Kraken: 546 euro pairs and around seven hundred dollar ones, age and regulation, hourly funding; HIBT: sizes at the best quote are open, nearly 500 USDT pairs, a relaxed request pace with no hard limits.
  • Which job. Kraken is for settling in real dollars and euro rather than stablecoins, while HIBT is as an extra side in spot and triangular routes.
  • Worth remembering. Kraken: entry-level fees run higher than neighbours — it pays off at larger volumes. HIBT: the book is served one pair per request, so only the top of the turnover list enters the scanners.

Which one fits you

Kraken — for settling in real dollars and euro rather than stablecoins.

HIBT — as an extra side in spot and triangular routes.

What people ask most

Kraken: Can a withdrawal be cancelled? While it is "Initiated", yes; while "Pending", sometimes. Once the transaction is broadcast to the blockchain it cannot be cancelled. That is true everywhere, but Kraken states the states explicitly.

Kraken: What makes Kraken useful for stablecoins? It has genuine USD pairs, which is how we compute the live dollar rate. Without that anchor, USDT’s deviation would be measured against USDT itself.

Kraken: Why check the network before sending? Kraken does not support every network for every coin, and a deposit sent on an unsupported network is usually unrecoverable. The supported list is in its funding help pages.

HIBT: Why is HIBT missing from funding? The venue does have futures, but we found no open programmatic access to the funding rate, and without it the section is pointless.

HIBT: Does HIBT take part in triangular arbitrage? Yes. The venue publishes the size at the best quote, and without that number an exchange does not enter the triangular section at all.

HIBT: Why do the scanners show only some HIBT pairs? The exchange serves its book one pair per request. Walking five hundred pairs in one refresh is impossible, so we watch the top of the turnover list. Using the last trade price instead was not an option: you cannot buy at it.

Both at once

Most people end up keeping both: one for daily trades, the other for what the first one lacks. Deposits and withdrawals go through the regulated venue, trading and yield through the ecosystem. A stablecoin travels between them on a cheap network.

Live numbers

The table above is built from our own market snapshots: USDT pairs, perpetual contracts, P2P ads and currencies, withdrawal networks and the cheapest one. Kraken and HIBT can be compared on facts rather than promises.

What the numbers say

The USDT withdrawal cost is absent from open data for both Kraken and HIBT. That is their disclosure choice rather than a gap in our collection: neither reference carries a fee field at all. Spot breadth favours HIBT — 478 USDT pairs to 44, 10.9× more.

Frequently asked

HIBT or Kraken — which should you pick?
It is the same choice whichever way round you write it. The comparison above is built on what can be measured: fees, pair counts, withdrawal chains and funding routes. Look less at which venue is "better" in general and more at which of those matters to you.
