KuCoin or Gate

Both live off coins the top three do not carry. A look at how they differ from each other.

Compared by the numbers

Everything below is read from the platforms directly. We leave volume out by choice — the methods differ too much for an honest comparison. And the P2P row measures our own scanner’s reach, not the exchange’s full currency list.

One niche, two approaches

KuCoin and Gate both exist thanks to coins the largest venues do not list. But KuCoin bets on tools for the trader, while Gate bets on breadth, network choice and transparency.

What KuCoin gives you

Trading bots — the main difference. Grid, DCA and arbitrage bots are configured right in the interface, with no programming: pick a pair, set a range and a number of levels.

Spot — more than eight hundred pairs.

Futures — nearly seven hundred perpetual contracts.

P2P — crypto for ordinary money across dozens of currencies.

Earn — savings, staking, accumulation products.

Spotlight — new token launches.

KCS token — a fee discount plus daily distributions from part of the venue fee revenue. Among exchange tokens that is uncommon.

What Gate gives you

Spot — two thousand pairs.

Futures — a thousand perpetual contracts.

Twenty-four networks for USDT withdrawals — the record of our review. If a coin needs to go into an unusual network, this is most likely where it can.

P2P — buy crypto for ordinary money.

Earn — savings, staking, structured products and lending.

Startup — new token launches.

Copy trading and bots — mirrored trades and automated strategies.

Proof of reserves — Gate was among the first to publish it regularly on a Merkle tree, so any user can verify their balance is counted in the exchange liabilities.

Age — running since 2013. In an industry where venues come and go, twelve unbroken years is an argument in itself.

Fees and transfers

Base rates on both are in line with the market, falling with volume and with their own tokens: KCS on one, GT on the other.

On transfers Gate wins: twenty-four networks against nineteen, and USDT withdrawals start at 0.04 on Aptos.

One rule for any wide listing

Two thousand pairs does not mean two thousand deep markets. The rule is the same for both: check volume and book depth before you check the price.

Who each one suits

KuCoin — if you want altcoins and automated trading without programming.

Gate — if a long track record, openness about reserves, the widest network choice and an even wider listing matter to you.

What the numbers say

Gate lists 26 networks for USDT, KuCoin lists 18 — that is freedom of route when you move funds. The spot lists differ by 2.5× — 2,038 USDT pairs on Gate, 817 on the other side. In our scanner KuCoin shows P2P in 89 currencies, Gate in 72. The longer contract list belongs to Gate — 1,070 perpetuals, against 707. Gate asks less to move USDT — 0.0500 over ARBITRUM; KuCoin comes to 0.50 TON.

Frequently asked

Which has more coins?
Usually Gate — around two thousand pairs against eight hundred plus on KuCoin. Current figures are in the table at the top of this page.
What is proof of reserves?
A Merkle-tree procedure: you verify that your balance is counted in the exchange liabilities and that they are covered by assets. Gate publishes it regularly.
How do KuCoin bots work?
The grid bot earns on swings inside a set range, DCA averages the entry, the arbitrage bot captures the spot-futures gap. Configured with a mouse.
Which has more withdrawal networks?
Gate — twenty-four for USDT, the record of our review. KuCoin has nineteen.
What does KCS give me?
A fee discount and daily distributions from part of the KuCoin fee revenue — rare among exchange tokens.
Gate or KuCoin — which should you pick?
It is the same choice whichever way round you write it. The comparison above is built on what can be measured: fees, pair counts, withdrawal chains and funding routes. Look less at which venue is "better" in general and more at which of those matters to you.
