What the bot does
The Puffit bot shows the site’s sections right in the chat: the same names, the same numbers and the same filters with the same defaults. The site computes the numbers; the bot takes them from the same data the section’s page is drawn from.
Beyond the sections, the bot does what a page cannot: it watches a trade you have entered and sends alerts on your thresholds. When a condition is met, it says so in numbers: which condition and with what values.
Getting access
The bot is not open to everyone: access is opened by its owner. Open the bot through the Telegram link in the site’s footer and start it. Without access, the bot answers that access is not set up and shows your chat id. The bot’s owner adds that number to the allowed list, and from then on the bot answers.
On the first start the bot asks for your language. Your section filters, trades and alerts are seen by you only.
Sections in the chat
Every section has a “Filters” button with the same settings as the page, and rows come in the same order as on the site. Commands work too: /status, /coverage, /funding, /markets, /p2p UAH, /trades, /language.
A link to the bot from a section’s page opens the bot on that section. In the CEX arbitrage table a row has a “Track in the bot” button: it opens that route’s card in the bot. If the route is no longer on the site, because the spread is not above zero or there are no fresh quotes, the bot says so.
Watching a trade
- Open a section’s row and press “I’m in”.
- Check the legs and entry prices, and correct them and the size if needed.
- Set a target and a stop, and confirm.
From then on the bot watches that row on the site and writes when a condition is met. Each signal comes once per crossing, and again only after the value has moved back. Stale data makes no signal: when there is no fresh data for a while, the bot writes “data is stale” once.
“My trades” lists your trades with an estimate at current prices, and “Trade closed”, “Change target”, “Stop watching”. The estimate is only an estimate: it compares the entry prices you confirmed with the current prices of the same legs. For a prediction markets basket the bot checks what the legs would fetch if sold now at the best bids, after the venues’ fees.
Alerts
An alert fires on any row of a section above your threshold. It can be narrowed to coins and venues, with quiet hours and a pause per row. In quiet hours alerts neither come nor pile up, while signals of your trades always come.
What the bot never does
The bot only reads the site’s data: it places no orders, does not trade for you and never asks for exchange API keys. Entering a trade, leaving it and moving money are yours to do on the exchange. “I’m in” is a mark for tracking, not an order.
Frequently asked
The bot says access is not set up. What now? Give the bot’s owner the chat id from that answer. Only the owner opens access.
Are the bot’s numbers the site’s? Yes: the bot takes them from the same data with the same filters as the section’s page. The only thing it works out itself is the estimate of an open trade.
Why did a signal come only once? A signal comes once per crossing. The next one comes when the value moves back and crosses the threshold again.
Does the bot need exchange keys? No. It asks for no API keys and places no orders.
