Phemex vs Crypto.com

Phemex is built for contracts; Crypto.com also covers earn, bots and launches. It comes down to what you need more often.

Compared by the numbers

These figures come from the venues themselves. Volume is missing on purpose: every exchange counts it its own way, and on a few the top of the book is tokenised equities. The bottom row counts the P2P currencies our scanner reaches, not everything the venue lists.

In short: the difference

Phemex is a derivatives terminal. On the market since 2019, jurisdiction: Samoa.

Crypto.com is a venue with bots and a Web3 side. On the market since 2016, jurisdiction: Singapore, its own CRO token.

What Phemex gives you

Compared with an ecosystem, Phemex leans on its own strengths: A derivatives venue founded by people from bank trading desks. A hundred and fifty spot pairs and a hundred and twenty perpetuals, each with its own funding rate. There is savings, copy trading and trading bots. The book is even and the data is served openly, which makes its prices sound to compare with other venues.

Strong sides: an even book, open data, the funding interval stated per contract.

What Crypto.com gives you

The terminal is strong on contracts, but Crypto.com has its own ground: Crypto.com is a large international exchange: licences in several countries, a card of its own and an app with tens of millions of users. Its principal quote currency is the dollar, so USDT pairs come to about a hundred, though the book on them is dense. On the derivatives side there are four hundred perpetuals: the rate is served one contract per request, but it accrues hourly and our walker collects it.

Strong sides: a dense book on the major pairs, licences and regulation, the CRO token for discounts.

What decides it

  • Age. Crypto.com has run since 2016, Phemex since 2019 — a gap of 3 years. It guarantees nothing on its own, but the older venue has been through more market cycles.
  • Jurisdiction. Phemex sits in Samoa, Crypto.com in Singapore. It shapes both the checks you pass and what the venue has to disclose.
  • Native token. CRO on Crypto.com cuts fees and opens launches; Phemex has no such lever.
  • Strengths side by side. Phemex: an even book, open data, the funding interval stated per contract; Crypto.com: a dense book on the major pairs, licences and regulation, the CRO token for discounts.
  • Which job. Phemex is as an additional venue in cross-exchange routes and funding, while Crypto.com is as a price reference and a funding venue.
  • Worth remembering. Phemex: a narrow listing next to the Asian venues. Crypto.com: only a hundred-odd USDT pairs: most trading is against the actual dollar.

Which one fits you

Phemex — as an additional venue in cross-exchange routes and funding.

Crypto.com — as a price reference and a funding venue.

What people ask most

Phemex: Does Phemex take part in your spot arbitrage? Yes. It serves the book for every pair as one list, so comparing its prices with other venues is sound.

Phemex: Why do Phemex prices look strange in its API? They are served as scaled integers: 160700000 at a scale of eight is 1.607. The scale differs per market and lives in the product directory.

Crypto.com: Why does Crypto.com show few pairs in your scanner? Because the venue quotes mainly against the actual dollar rather than USDT. There are only a hundred-odd USDT pairs, and those are what the tables use. Comparing a dollar price with a USDT price directly is not sound: they are different assets.

Crypto.com: Why is the venue absent from triangular arbitrage? It does not publish the size resting at the best price. Without that there is no saying how large a route can fill, and showing a return with no execution ceiling would mislead.

Both at once

Nothing stops you from opening an account on both: it is free, and a pair of venues almost always beats any single one on price. Spot and earn stay on the ecosystem, contracts on the terminal. Moving between them costs pennies on the right network.

Live numbers

The table above is built from our own market snapshots: USDT pairs, perpetual contracts, P2P ads and currencies, withdrawal networks and the cheapest one. Phemex and Crypto.com can be compared on facts rather than promises.

What the numbers say

The futures list runs longer on Crypto.com: 411, against 129. Neither side wins on spot: 136 USDT pairs apiece, give or take. The USDT withdrawal cost is absent from open data for both Phemex and Crypto.com. That is their disclosure choice rather than a gap in our collection: neither reference carries a fee field at all.

Frequently asked

Crypto.com or Phemex — which should you pick?
It is the same choice whichever way round you write it. The comparison above is built on what can be measured: fees, pair counts, withdrawal chains and funding routes. Look less at which venue is "better" in general and more at which of those matters to you.
